Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo has stirred fresh rivalry talk by claiming that his club has done better business than Real Madrid in the ongoing 2025 summer transfer window.
In an interview with Spanish media outlet COPE, the Spain international said Barcelona’s new signings are of higher quality compared to those of their long-time rivals, Real Madrid.
“We have made better signings than Real Madrid,” Olmo said confidently.
Barcelona have signed Marcus Rashford from Manchester United, along with Joan Garcia and rising star Roony Bardghji. Real Madrid, on the other hand, made four major additions, including England right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool.
Despite Madrid’s bigger numbers, Olmo believes the quality of Barça’s three signings gives them the edge.
Real Madrid, under coach Carlo Ancelotti, failed to win any major trophy last season, even after securing the high-profile signing of Kylian Mbappé from Paris Saint-Germain. The club also lost to Barcelona four times in the same campaign.
Barcelona will be looking to build on last season’s momentum under new manager Hansi Flick, as both Spanish giants prepare for another fierce La Liga battle in the coming season.
