Armed bandits on Friday launched deadly attacks on two communities in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing three people and abducting several others.
The first attack occurred in Karfi community shortly after Juma’at prayers, where one person was killed and two others were abducted.
Just a few hours later, the attackers struck again, this time in Layin Minister, where they killed two more people, injured several others, and kidnapped an undisclosed number of residents.
“All the communities are situated in Malumfashi LGA,” a local source told reporters. “Bandits attacked Karfi after Juma’at, killed one and abducted two. Then they moved to Layin Minister, killed two, injured several, and kidnapped many.”
As of the time of filing this report, state authorities and security agencies have not released an official statement regarding the incident.
Katsina State, the home state of former President Muhammadu Buhari, has been one of the hardest-hit by armed banditry in recent years. Rural communities across the North-West region continue to face relentless attacks involving killings, kidnappings for ransom, and destruction of property.
Security forces have launched several operations in the region, but many locals say the situation remains dire, especially in remote areas like Malumfashi.
Residents are calling for urgent government intervention to protect lives and restore peace in the area.
