    Share

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested two men suspected to be cult members during a raid on a hotel in Ikot Udota, Eket Local Government Area.

The suspects — 29-year-old Uwemedimo Michael Udah from Uyo and 32-year-old Prince Emmanuel Amasi-Tito from Rivers State — were picked up following intelligence that linked them to a gang of expelled students and school dropouts involved in serious crimes.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Saturday. She said the gang has been terrorizing residents with crimes such as rape, cyber fraud, and extortion.

Items recovered during the hotel raid include:

    – One English Beretta pistol with three live 9mm bullets

She assured the public that investigations are ongoing and efforts are being made to arrest the remaining members of the group.

The police urged the public to continue sharing useful information that can help in the fight against cultism and criminal activities in the state.
