Nigeria’s Amy Okonkwo has been crowned the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2025 Women’s Afrobasket after a brilliant performance that helped D’Tigress lift their fifth consecutive title on Sunday.
Okonkwo delivered 19 points and 9 rebounds in the final against Mali, where Nigeria won 78–64 to clinch the championship.
This is her second straight MVP award, having also won it at the 2023 edition of the tournament. She was also named to the Team of the Tournament, confirming her status as one of the best players in African women’s basketball.
Okonkwo’s consistent performance has played a big role in maintaining D’Tigress’ unbeaten run in the competition for the past 10 years.
