    D’Tigress Beat Mali to Win 2025 Afrobasket Championship

    Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have been crowned champions of the 2025 Women’s Afrobasket after defeating Mali 78–64 in a thrilling final on Sunday in Abidjan.

    Despite trailing 21–26 in the first quarter, the Nigerian team bounced back strongly, winning both the second and third quarters 20–15. In the final quarter, they dominated Mali 17–8 to seal their victory.

    With this win, D’Tigress have now secured their fifth consecutive Afrobasket title and their seventh overall, making history as the first team to win five titles in a row in the tournament’s history.

    The victory also extends Nigeria’s unbeaten run in the competition to 10 years, underlining their dominance in African women’s basketball.

    D’Tigress have now firmly established themselves as the most successful women’s basketball team on the continent.
