Manchester United manager, Rúben Amorim, has confirmed that talented winger Alejandro Garnacho will be leaving the club this summer, admitting that things did not work out between them despite the player’s potential.
Speaking in an interview with the BBC, Amorim said Garnacho is a gifted footballer, but sometimes, situations at a club simply don’t align.
“Alejandro Garnacho is a really talented boy… but sometimes things don’t work out,” Amorim said. “You cannot explain specifically what it is. It’s clear he wants a different thing with a different leadership.”
The Argentine forward is reportedly eager to stay in the Premier League, with Chelsea showing strong interest in signing him. Although no formal talks have taken place yet, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Garnacho is on Chelsea’s list of targets.
The Blues are also pursuing Xavi Simons, currently on loan at RB Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain, as they continue efforts to strengthen their attacking options.
Garnacho, 20, was one of the few bright spots for Manchester United last season under former manager Erik ten Hag. However, under Amorim’s new leadership, the winger has struggled to settle, leading to his decision to move on.
A move to Chelsea could see Garnacho stay in top-flight English football while getting a fresh start under a different system and coaching style.
As the transfer window progresses, fans will be watching closely to see where the promising Argentine lands next.
