Former Minister of Police Affairs, Adamu Maina Waziri, has harshly criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing it as worse than that of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Waziri, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), made the comments during an interview on Trust TV, where he said Nigeria has suffered serious setbacks under Tinubu’s leadership, especially in the areas of security, economy, and anti-corruption efforts.
“If the Buhari government was a failure, the Tinubu government in the last two years is a disastrous catastrophe,” Waziri stated. “It has failed in all ramifications, and the country has regressed.”
He expressed disbelief that people from communities affected by banditry could still publicly support the current administration. “I am surprised that people whose local governments are under the control of bandits can appear on national television to endorse this government,” he said.
Waziri’s comments reflect growing concerns among some Nigerians over worsening economic hardship, rising insecurity, and continued corruption allegations despite promises of reform.
President Tinubu took office in May 2023, following eight years of Buhari’s rule, and has faced criticism over tough economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira, which have led to high inflation and a cost-of-living crisis.
