Armed bandits on Wednesday attacked several farming communities in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State, killing one person and forcing many farmers to flee.
According to reports, the attack affected Gidan Buwai, Kundus, Rarah, and Dudu Barade Bulke communities. A hunter trying to escape during the attack in Rarah was reportedly shot dead by the attackers.
Security analyst Bakatsine raised the alarm in an alert posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday morning. He confirmed that there were no reports of abductions or livestock theft, but gunshots were heard, and panic spread among the locals.
Sokoto State has been facing rising insecurity in recent years, with armed bandits frequently launching attacks on rural communities, leading to loss of lives, destruction of property, and displacement of residents.
As of the time of this report, authorities in Sokoto have yet to officially comment on the latest incident.
