Nigeria’s representatives in the 2025/2026 CAF Confederation Cup, Abia Warriors and Kwara United, have been handed tough opponents in the competition’s preliminary round.
Abia Warriors, who recently qualified for their first-ever appearance in the tournament after finishing well in the NPFL, will take on Djoliba AC of Mali in the first round. If they advance, they will face the winner between USFA of Burkina Faso and AS Gbohloe-su of Togo in the second round.
Meanwhile, President Federation Cup winners, Kwara United, will go head-to-head with Ghanaian giants, Asante Kotoko, in what promises to be a high-stakes West African derby. The winner of that tie will likely face a much tougher challenge against Wydad Casablanca of Morocco in the next round.
The CAF preliminary round matches are expected to begin next month, with both Nigerian clubs aiming to reach the group stage of the continental competition.
