Rep Abejide Vows to Remove Atiku, Obi, Others from ADC

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Leke Abejide, has warned that prominent political figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rauf Aregbesola, David Mark, and Rotimi Amaechi will soon be sent out of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Speaking during an interview on the Mic On podcast, Abejide, who represents the Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency of Kogi State, accused the Atiku-backed opposition coalition of trying to hijack the ADC, a move he strongly rejected.

Recently, the coalition of opposition politicians including members from Labour Party, PDP, and a faction of APC adopted ADC as their new political platform ahead of the 2027 elections. Following this, former Senate President David Mark was named Interim National Chairman, while ex-Minister Rauf Aregbesola was made Interim National Secretary.

There are strong rumours that Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi are eyeing the ADC presidential ticket.

But Abejide insists that the coalition leaders have no legal right to hold national positions within the party, claiming that ADC’s constitution requires members to have spent at least two years in the party before being eligible for such roles.

He said: “Give me a few days, and you will see who truly leads ADC. We will send them Atiku, Obi, Mark, Aregbesola, and Amaechi back to where they came from. They have not taken over this party.”

Abejide also addressed the ongoing leadership crisis in the Kogi State chapter of the party. He alleged that some individuals causing trouble in the state, including Kingsley Ogah and Adaji, are being sponsored by political actors like Dino Melaye and ex-senator Tunde Ogbeha.

He maintained that their attempts to suspend him from the party are invalid, as only ward executives not the state committee have the power to initiate suspensions.

As internal tensions escalate, the ADC now faces a fierce power struggle, with 2027 presidential ambitions threatening to tear the party apart.
