Sudan’s head coach, Kwesi Appiah, has admitted he was shocked by the 4-0 score line in his team’s emphatic victory over Nigeria during their Group D clash at the ongoing 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Appiah’s Sudan side completely outplayed Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles, scoring four goals without reply and knocking the West African giants out of the tournament.

The match, played on Tuesday, saw Nigeria concede an own-goal through Leonard Ngenge, while Sudan’s Walieldin Khedr and Abdel Raouf (who scored twice) sealed the win.

Speaking after the game, Appiah said:

“I wasn’t expecting that scoreline. I knew we could beat Nigeria but not by that scoreline (4-0).”
