CHAN 2024: Kenya, Tanzania Book Last-8 Spots

    Share

Kenya and Tanzania have become the first two teams to qualify for the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Kenya sealed their place in the last eight after DR Congo defeated Angola 2-0 on Thursday in Group A. That result left the Harambee Stars at the top of the group with 7 points and one game remaining.

Kenya had earlier secured important 1-0 victories over both Morocco and DR Congo, giving them a head-to-head advantage. As a result, neither team can overtake them, regardless of the outcome of the final group games.

Morocco and DR Congo, both sitting on 6 points, will now face off this weekend in a winner-takes-all clash to determine who joins Kenya in advancing from Group A.

Meanwhile, Tanzania became the first team to qualify for the quarter-finals after topping Group B with 9 points from three games, also with one match left to play.
