Mrs. Esther Chinyere Onyekesi, mother of late Martins Ifesinachi Onyekesi, CEO of Fish Magnate Group, has spoken for the first time since the killing of her son, firmly stating that Governor Chukwuma Soludo had no hand in the tragedy.
Martins was kidnapped last month in Anambra State. Despite reports that a ransom was paid, he was later killed and his body dumped at an undisclosed location. His murder sparked outrage online, with some individuals, including social media activist Martins Otse (popularly known as VeryDarkMan), accusing the state government of negligence.
But in her emotional remarks during a condolence visit by members of the Soludo support group, Geeks and Founders Alliance for Soludo (GEFAS), Mrs. Onyekesi described her son’s death as a “targeted attack.”
“They waited for him while he was coming home. As he got out of his car to open the gate, they attacked him. I believe it was a planned killing,” she said.
Mrs. Onyekesi, who also serves as the Woman Leader of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), dismissed attempts to politicise her son’s death, saying some politicians have tried to use the situation to attack Governor Soludo.
“Governor Soludo is not responsible for my son’s death. In fact, he reached out to me personally and connected me with the police commissioner the night my son was kidnapped,” she added.
She also revealed that some political actors had approached her, seeking to use the tragedy against the governor, but she refused. “I’ve turned many of them down. Some I saw, others I refused to see. I won’t allow anyone turn my son’s death into politics,” she said.
The remains of the young businessman will be laid to rest on August 28, 2025, in his hometown, Ikenga, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The GEFAS team, led by its coordinator, Mr. Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, offered condolences and pledged the group’s continued support to the grieving family.
