    Bandits Abduct Two in Fresh Kwara Attack

    Tension has gripped Lata-Nna community in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State following the abduction of two residents by suspected bandits on Friday night.

    The victims, identified as Alhaji Adam Gbechi and Alhaji Aji Hajaworo, were reportedly taken during a late-night attack that has left the entire community in fear and confusion.

    According to local sources, the armed men stormed the area under the cover of darkness and abducted the two men without resistance. As of the time of this report, the kidnappers have not contacted the families of the victims, raising fears for their safety.

    The incident comes barely a day after another attack on communities in the nearby Lafiagi Emirate, further fuelling concerns about worsening insecurity in the region.

    Youth groups in the area had earlier planned a protest to demand action over the rising cases of abduction. However, the protest was suspended following appeals from the Lafiagi Descendants Development Union (LADDU), which warned against possible hijack by hoodlums.

    Efforts to get a response from security agencies in the state proved unsuccessful as officials could not be reached at the time of filing this report.

    Kwara State has experienced a series of security challenges in recent months, especially in rural areas, sparking fears of rising bandit activity similar to that seen in neighbouring states.
