A fire outbreak on Friday night destroyed Fresh 105.9 FM a popular radio station owned by gospel musician and media entrepreneur, Mr. Yinka Ayefele, in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
The incident happened at the station’s headquarters located in the Challenge area of the city. Eyewitnesses said the fire broke out late in the evening and quickly spread through parts of the building.
As of the time of filing this report, the management of the station has not issued an official statement regarding the fire or the extent of the damage. However, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident.
It is not yet clear what caused the fire, and there are no reports of casualties. Firefighters were seen battling the flames through the night to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.
Fresh FM, founded by Yinka Ayefele in 2015, is one of the leading private radio stations in the South-West, known for its engaging music, news, and talk programmes. The station has a large following in Ibadan and beyond.
Authorities say investigations will begin to determine the cause of the fire.
