Veteran Nollywood actor and politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, has declared that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and take over the presidency in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during an interview on Sunrise Daily, a program aired on Channels Television on Monday, Okonkwo said the ADC is fully prepared to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and other major parties in the coming polls.

He boldly stated that the ADC is not just ready to compete, but also confident it will send President Tinubu back to his residence on Bourdillon Road in Lagos, signalling a complete change of leadership at the federal level.

“In 2027, we stand a chance in every election in Nigeria,” Okonkwo said. “We are going to form the next government in Nigeria and send Tinubu to Bourdillon.”

Okonkwo, who is also a lawyer and former spokesperson for the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign Council, joined the ADC earlier this year after parting ways with the Labour Party. He has since been vocal about ADC’s prospects and restructuring.

He said the true strength of the ADC will be evident in the 2027 elections, especially because the party now has new leadership under David Mark, a former Senate President.

Okonkwo noted that any past elections conducted before this leadership shift may not reflect the party’s current strength, but insisted that 2027 would be different.

He also spoke about the structure and presence of the ADC across the country. According to him, the party is active in all 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Commenting on the political structure in Rivers State, Okonkwo claimed that former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, is one of the most prominent figures in the state’s ADC chapter.

“Rotimi Amaechi naturally is one of the prominent leaders of ADC in Rivers State and the South-South,” he said. “So, it will not be out of place if you say that he is the leader of the ADC in Rivers State.”
