The Lagos State Government has appointed controversial social media influencer, Ayomiposi Oluwadahunsi, popularly known as Mandy Kiss, as a brand ambassador for its anti-drug abuse campaign.
The appointment was made during a recent event organised by the Lagos State Kick Against Drug and Substance Abuse (LASKADA), under the Ministry of Youth and Social Development. The Commissioner, Mobolaji Ogunlende, officially announced her new role during the event held on Tuesday.
Ogunlende said the decision was based on Mandy Kiss’s strong online influence, especially among young Nigerians. With over 400,000 followers on social media, the commissioner explained that she was seen as a valuable partner in the fight against drug abuse, which he described as a “pandemic” troubling the streets and communities of Lagos.
“We’re here with Mandy Kiss, and she has agreed to become one of our LASKADA ambassadors,” Ogunlende said in a video that has since gone viral. “The government cannot fight drug abuse alone. We must collaborate with people who can reach the masses, and Mandy Kiss fits that role.”
He officially conferred the title on her, urging the youth to say “No to drugs” and to join hands in spreading the message across the state.
However, the appointment has stirred mixed reactions online. Just days earlier, Mandy Kiss faced heavy criticism on social media following her comments about a “marathon sex” experience, which many Nigerians described as inappropriate and unfit for a public figure.
Despite the controversy, the Lagos State Government appears focused on her ability to influence and connect with young people, particularly those who may be vulnerable to drug abuse.
LASKADA is a government-led campaign aimed at reducing the rate of drug and substance abuse, especially among youth in Lagos. It works through education, outreach, and partnerships with public figures to spread awareness.
Mandy Kiss, once known for her explicit content and controversial lifestyle, is now expected to use her platform to advocate against drug abuse and support the government’s efforts in promoting healthy lifestyles.
