A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has issued a strong warning to activist and politician Omoyele Sowore, advising him to stay away from any campaign demanding the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
In a Facebook post titled “Final Warning to Omoyele Sowore”, Igbokwe accused Kanu of turning the Southeast into a killing field and described him as “a butcher” responsible for years of violence and bloodshed in the region.
According to Igbokwe, Kanu’s actions over the past decade have devastated the Southeast, leading to the deaths of many innocent people and plunging the region into chaos.
“Omoyele Sowore says he is marching to Aso Rock to protest against the detention of the butcher of the Southeast called Nnamdi Kanu,” Igbokwe wrote. “I have told him as a friend to run 440. I have alerted his junior brother, Barr. Allen Sowore, to warn him.”
Igbokwe, who hails from Nnewi in Anambra State, said the IPOB movement led by Kanu was responsible for widespread insecurity, loss of life, and destruction in Igboland.
“Nnamdi Kanu’s men turned the Southeast into a place where anything goes — a lawless zone. It became the land of Patmos, the Hobbesian state of nature, where life is nasty, brutish, and short,” he said. “Kanu decimated the Southeast.”
Igbokwe claimed that the activities of IPOB have pushed the Igbo nation backward by 50 years, stripping the people of their dignity, respect, and values.
“Whatever came over our people, I cannot explain. We went to sleep, and idiots and vagabonds ruined the land of the rising sun. Children, led by the empty head called Nnamdi Kanu, dragged Igbo nation into a terrible mess.”
The APC chieftain revealed that he was personally affected by the unrest, pointing to attacks on his property in Nnewi.
He warned Sowore — a Yoruba politician from Ondo State and the founder of the #RevolutionNow movement — to stay out of Igbo affairs and avoid taking sides in a matter he does not fully understand.
“Sowore, Sowore, Sowore — how many times did I call you? Run 440 away from Southeast matters. You know nothing about what Nnamdi Kanu did in the name of a useless and senseless Biafra project. Blood was shed. I am a victim.”
He advised Sowore to visit communities affected by IPOB’s actions before getting involved in calls for Kanu’s release.
“Go to Nnewi and see my home. Speak to the people. Do your homework before you join this senseless mission. The road leads to nowhere. I have done my duty.”
Igbokwe also called on people from other parts of the country — especially the South West, South South, and Northern regions — to ignore the Biafra agitation and what he called Sowore’s “reckless adventure.”
“This Aluta Continua drama is no longer relevant. It is childish, senseless, and a complete waste of time.”
Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB, was arrested and detained by the federal government for leading a separatist movement seeking an independent Biafran nation. IPOB has been accused of violent attacks on security personnel and civilians, especially in the Southeast, where the group enforced sit-at-home orders and was linked to deadly unrest.
Despite these allegations, several activists, including Omoyele Sowore, have continued to call for Kanu’s release, citing human rights concerns.
