A Nigerian national, Onyejesi Obum Kingley, has been arrested in India after allegedly attacking four policemen and a civilian witness during a drug raid at his residence in Nalasopara, a suburb in the state of Maharashtra.

The incident occurred on Saturday, when a police team from Tulinj Police Station acted on a tip-off and stormed Kingley’s fourth-floor apartment at Tara Basera Apartments, Pragati Nagar, Nalasopara East. The raid, which was intended to uncover illegal drugs, took a violent turn when the suspect reportedly resisted arrest.

According to police reports, Kingley became aggressive as officers entered his flat. In the chaos that followed, he attacked a civilian witness who accompanied the police, pinning him down and allegedly standing on his hand while continuing to beat him.

Four police officers were also injured in the altercation but were later treated for minor injuries and given first aid.

Despite the violence, no drugs were found in the apartment during the search. However, Kingley was arrested on the spot and charged for assaulting public servants and resisting law enforcement.
