Gunmen Kill Two Officers in Kaduna Police Station Attack

At least two police officers are feared dead following an attack on a police station in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The incident occurred on Friday evening when unknown gunmen stormed the Zonkwa Police Station, located just a few metres from Kamyim Hotel in the Kurmin-Bi area of the town. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers opened fire immediately after arriving at the station, causing panic in the community.

Residents reported hearing heavy gunfire as the assailants shot sporadically at the building. Many locals ran for safety while shops and nearby businesses quickly shut down.

A local source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the attack may have been an attempt to free some suspected vandals who were recently arrested in Kachia, a neighbouring town.

“They believed the suspects were being held at the Zonkwa Police Station,” the source said. “But it was later found out that the suspects were not there. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done.”
