Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Thursday, in what he described as an “honour and inspiring moment.”
The Grammy-nominated artist shared photos from the meeting on his verified Instagram page, where he expressed gratitude to President Macron for the warm reception and the opportunity to discuss ideas for collaboration.
Davido, who was accompanied by his long-time manager Asa Asika and popular Nigerian businessman Pascal Okechukwu, better known as Cubana Chief Priest, appeared relaxed and cheerful in the pictures that captured his friendly exchange with the French leader.
In one of his posts, the Afrobeats star wrote:
“It was an honour meeting @emmanuelmacron and sharing our visions for a better world.”
The meeting reportedly took place at the Élysée Palace, the official residence of the French President. Although details of their discussion were not made public, sources said it focused on cultural exchange, youth empowerment, and creative industry development between Africa and France.
President Macron has in recent years shown strong interest in strengthening ties with African youth and the continent’s booming creative industry. In 2018, he hosted several African entertainers, including Davido, during a cultural summit in Lagos, where he visited the New Afrika Shrine, made popular by the late music legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
Davido, one of Africa’s most influential musicians, has also been a prominent voice for youth empowerment and cultural promotion. Through his global performances and social initiatives, he has continued to position Nigerian music as a leading force in world entertainment.
The singer, who recently concluded a successful world tour for his album Timeless, has been praised for using his platform to promote African creativity and unity.
Reacting to Davido’s post, fans and celebrities across Nigeria and beyond flooded his page with congratulatory messages, describing the meeting as a proud moment for the Nigerian music industry.
Davido’s visit to France adds to a growing list of international recognitions for Afrobeats stars, further confirming the genre’s global impact and the expanding influence of Nigerian artists on the world stage.
