Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has joined Chelsea legend Frank Lampard in the Premier League history books, equaling the former midfielder’s record for 279 goals involvement in England’s top flight.
Salah achieved the milestone on Sunday, scoring a goal in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory against Aston Villa at Anfield. The goal pushed his career tally in the Premier League to 190 goals and 89 assists, matching Lampard’s combined 279 goals and assists.
The 32-year-old Egyptian star now sits third on the Premier League all-time goals involvement list, alongside Lampard, with only Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney ahead of him.
Alan Shearer – 324 (260 goals, 64 assists)
Wayne Rooney – 311 (208 goals, 103 assists)
Frank Lampard – 279 (177 goals, 102 assists)
Mohamed Salah – 279 (190 goals, 89 assists)
Ryan Giggs – 271 (109 goals, 162 assists)
Salah’s achievement highlights his consistency and goal-scoring prowess since joining Liverpool in 2017 from Roma. He has been a key figure in Liverpool’s domestic and European successes, helping the club win the Premier League, Champions League, and other major trophies.
Manager Jürgen Klopp praised Salah’s contribution, saying, “Mo has been outstanding for us. Not only does he score goals, but he creates chances and drives the team forward. This record is well deserved.”
The record also highlights Salah’s longevity and consistency. Achieving 279 goal involvements requires performing at a high level across multiple seasons, a testament to his fitness, skill, and dedication.
Salah now looks to climb even higher in the all-time rankings. With several seasons still ahead, he could potentially surpass both Lampard and Rooney, moving closer to Shearer’s record of 324 goal involvements.
Liverpool fans celebrated Salah’s milestone, sharing praise on social media and hailing him as one of the club’s all-time greats. As Salah continues to shine, the Egyptian star cements his legacy not only at Liverpool but also in Premier League history.
