President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State on his re-election, describing the victory as a historic milestone in the state’s political history. In a statement released on Sunday, the President said Soludo’s overwhelming win is a “powerful affirmation of visionary leadership” that has transformed the southeastern state.

“I congratulate Professor Chukwuma Soludo on his re-election as the governor of Anambra State,” President Tinubu said. “The overwhelming victory he recorded in Saturday’s poll has now made him the third governor in the state’s political history to win a second term.”

The President emphasized that the results are not just numbers on a ballot sheet but a reflection of the people’s confidence in Soludo’s leadership. “Anambra voters have spoken loud and clear about the kind of leadership they want, and they’ve doubled down on Soludo’s vision,” he added.

Soludo, widely nicknamed “Mr. Solution,” has earned praise for his practical approach to governance. President Tinubu acknowledged that the governor has combined academic knowledge with effective leadership to bring development to the state.

“Governor Soludo has demonstrated that knowledge is power and that academic principles can be applied in serving the people,” Tinubu said. “Under him, Anambra is living up to its motto as the Light of the Nation.”

The President highlighted Soludo’s achievements in infrastructure development, governance reforms, and prudent resource management. “His re-election is a testament to his visionary leadership and the significant progress the state has made under his guidance,” he added.

President Tinubu’s praise for Soludo is not just political courtesy. He referred to his visit to Anambra State in May, where he personally inaugurated several key projects executed under the Soludo administration.

“It was remarkable and indelible,” the President said, describing the projects as clear evidence of “good thinking and purposeful leadership.” Tinubu’s firsthand observation of the state’s development initiatives underscores the weight of his endorsement.

Beyond celebrating Soludo’s victory, President Tinubu commended all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the election. He praised the people of Anambra State for maintaining peace during the poll, lauded security agencies for keeping order, and expressed gratitude to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a credible exercise.

He also gave special recognition to the new INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, urging him and his team to continue improving Nigeria’s electoral system. The President’s remarks reflect a commitment to strengthening democratic processes and ensuring transparency in future elections.

President Tinubu further noted that Soludo’s victory, despite opposition challenges, demonstrates the health of democracy in Nigeria. “Victory for any progressive and hardworking leader can hardly be encumbered or denied,” he stated, emphasizing that good governance transcends party lines.

In a political climate where opposition victories are sometimes questioned, Tinubu’s statement sends a clear message that merit and performance matter. It also reinforces the idea that voters are capable of discerning effective leadership.

Governor Soludo, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, first assumed office in Anambra State in 2021. Since taking office, he has been known for a discipline-focused administration, introducing reforms in public service, infrastructure, and fiscal management. His administration has prioritized road construction, health care improvements, and the modernization of public institutions.

Winning a second term in Anambra is rare. Soludo becomes only the third governor in the state’s history to achieve this feat, joining a select group of leaders who have earned public trust across multiple election cycles. This achievement places him in a distinguished position within the state’s political landscape.

The victory also reinforces the strength of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra, a party that has maintained influence in the region despite national political dynamics. Analysts believe Soludo’s re-election signals stability and continuity in governance for the state.
