Trump Dismisses Health Reports – ‘No President Has Worked as Hard as I Have’

    Share

United States President Donald Trump has strongly denied media reports questioning his health, describing the stories as “seditious” and “treasonous.” The 79-year-old made the comments in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Wednesday, insisting that he remains mentally and physically strong.

Trump’s outburst came after recent reports in The New York Times and other American media outlets suggested that he may be slowing down due to age. The reports raised concerns about his fitness as he continues to position himself as a major political force in the United States.

Trump, however, dismissed the claims, insisting that no president has ever worked harder than he has, and describing himself as one of the most effective leaders in U.S. history.

In his post, Trump wrote: “There has never been a President who has worked as hard as I! My hours are the longest, and my results are among the best.” He argued that the American media is deliberately trying to damage his image by questioning his health.

“I actually believe it’s seditious, perhaps even treasonous, for The New York Times, and others, to consistently do FAKE reports in order to libel and demean ‘THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES’,” he added.

Trump also claimed he had undergone long and detailed medical examinations and performed well on cognitive tests that he said other recent presidents had not taken.

The health of American presidents and presidential candidates is often a major topic of public debate, especially during busy political seasons. In Trump’s case, scrutiny has grown due to his age—he is approaching 80—and his continued involvement in politics.

Trump served as the 45th President of the United States from 2017 to 2021. After losing the 2020 election to Joe Biden, he has remained a dominant figure within the Republican Party. He continues to hold rallies, influence political candidates, and position himself for future elections. His political rivals and sections of the American press have repeatedly questioned whether he has the physical and mental stamina to remain active at such an advanced age.

In recent months, U.S. media outlets have highlighted instances where Trump appeared tired or less energetic than usual. While many Americans see this as normal for someone nearing 80, others worry that it may affect his political ambitions.

This is not the first time Trump has taken aim at U.S. newspapers and television networks. During his time in office, he frequently clashed with major media houses such as CNN, The Washington Post and The New York Times, labelling them “fake news” and accusing them of undermining his administration.

His latest comments show that his hostility toward the press has not softened. Trump said it would be better if The New York Times “ceased publication,” calling the paper “a horrible, biased, and untruthful ‘source’ of information.”

The New York Times, founded in 1851, is one of the most influential newspapers in the world. It has a long history of political reporting and has often been critical of Trump. The paper has not responded directly to his latest accusations, but it has repeatedly defended its reporting as accurate and in the public interest.

Age and health have become major themes in U.S. politics, especially as the country approaches another election cycle. Current President Joe Biden, who is 82 years old, also faces constant scrutiny over his health and mental sharpness. Many Americans believe both Biden and Trump represent an older generation that may no longer reflect the country’s demographic realities.

In recent opinion polls in the United States, many voters say they prefer younger leaders with fresh ideas and stronger energy levels. However, both Biden and Trump continue to dominate their respective parties, making health-related discussions difficult to ignore.

In his Truth Social post, Trump boasted about doing well in cognitive tests, which he described as long and “boring.” These tests are designed to evaluate memory, attention and problem-solving skills. Trump has repeatedly used his performance on such tests as evidence of his mental sharpness.

During his presidency, Trump often claimed he passed a “very difficult” cognitive test. Medical professionals have explained that the test he took is a standard screening tool, mostly used to detect early signs of cognitive decline. Many experts say the test alone cannot fully determine cognitive strength or the ability to handle the demands of the presidency.

Still, Trump has repeatedly pointed to the test as proof that his critics are wrong about his health.

Trump remains one of the most influential political figures in the United States. His comments on the media and on his health come at a time when he is trying to maintain strong support among Republican voters. His base remains loyal, and his criticisms of the media continue to resonate with supporters who believe mainstream news outlets treat him unfairly.

However, the debate over his age and health is likely to continue. U.S. politics is increasingly divided, and stories about the physical fitness of political leaders often create heated discussions.

Trump’s political influence extends beyond the United States. His policies, public statements, and leadership style have shaped global events on issues such as trade, immigration, and international diplomacy. For this reason, news about his health is closely followed around the world, including in Nigeria.
