Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has congratulated the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, on the occasion of his 58th birthday, describing him as a committed leader whose dedication to public service continues to produce visible results.

Governor Fubara made this known in a goodwill message he personally signed on Saturday in Port Harcourt. The message was issued on behalf of his family, the government, and the people of Rivers State.

In the message, Fubara said the state remains proud of Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, especially for the level of infrastructural development currently taking place in Abuja under his leadership as FCT Minister.

According to the governor, Wike’s birthday celebration is significant because it comes at a time when his work in the nation’s capital is attracting national attention and public discussion.

He noted that Wike has continued to demonstrate strong leadership and commitment in his new role, just as he did while serving as governor of Rivers State.

“This celebration is significant and well deserved. It comes at a time when your leadership in the FCT continues to draw national attention because of its visible impact on infrastructure and service delivery,” Fubara said.

Wike, who served as governor of Rivers State from 2015 to 2023, is widely known for his aggressive approach to governance, especially in road construction, urban renewal, and public infrastructure. His tenure as governor saw the execution of several major projects across the state, particularly in Port Harcourt and its surrounding areas.

Since his appointment as FCT Minister by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in August 2023, Wike has adopted a similar style in Abuja. His administration has focused on road construction, rehabilitation of public buildings, and enforcement of development regulations within the capital city.

Governor Fubara said these efforts have helped to reinforce Wike’s reputation as a public servant who is focused on results rather than excuses.

“We are proud of you. You have continued to provide enduring infrastructural development in Abuja, reinforcing your reputation as a public servant committed to results and to the advancement of the Nigerian capital city,” the governor stated.

He added that Wike’s personal qualities, including his strong work ethic and leadership style, have translated into positive and unprecedented contributions to the growth and development of the FCT.

According to Fubara, residents of Abuja are already feeling the impact of improved infrastructure, better road networks, and renewed attention to public facilities.

The goodwill message is coming against the backdrop of ongoing political developments in Rivers State, where Wike remains a major political figure despite no longer holding office as governor. Wike played a key role in the emergence of Governor Fubara as his successor in 2023.

Although both men belong to the same political family, their relationship has been under public scrutiny following political tensions and disagreements in the state. Despite these challenges, Fubara’s message is seen by many observers as a gesture of respect and recognition of Wike’s contributions to the state and the country.

Wike’s influence extends beyond Rivers State. As FCT Minister, he occupies one of the most strategic positions in the federal cabinet, overseeing Nigeria’s capital city and working directly under the President.

Since taking office, he has been involved in several high-profile projects, including the rehabilitation of major roads, clearing of illegal structures, and efforts to restore Abuja’s master plan. These actions have earned him praise from some quarters and criticism from others, but they have kept him in the national spotlight.

Governor Fubara acknowledged that Wike’s leadership continues to attract attention because of its bold approach and visible outcomes.

He said the people of Rivers State take pride in seeing one of their own playing a major role in shaping the development of the nation’s capital.

On behalf of his family and the people of Rivers State, Fubara wished Wike good health, wisdom, and continued strength as he marks another year of life and service to Nigeria.

“I wish you a fulfilling celebration as you mark another year of life and service to the nation,” the governor said.

Wike turned 58 on Saturday and marked the occasion with messages of goodwill from political leaders, associates, and supporters across the country. Many have praised his contributions to governance and his continued relevance in national politics.
