Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday visited his ward, Ward E3 (Premier Ward), Adeniji Adele in Lagos Island, to electronically re-register as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The visit is part of the ongoing APC membership registration and revalidation exercise across the country.

The governor used the opportunity to encourage all current party members in the ward and beyond to revalidate their membership electronically. He also called on new members of the public to join the APC, emphasizing the party’s role in governance and development at both state and national levels.

“Membership revalidation is important for the party to maintain an updated database of its members,” Sanwo-Olu told residents during the visit. “I encourage every loyal member to register or re-register, and I call on new members who believe in the APC’s vision to join us.”

Sanwo-Olu’s visit highlights the significance the party places on strengthening its grassroots network. Electronic registration has become the preferred method for the APC to ensure transparency, accuracy, and ease of data management ahead of future elections.

Lagos State, under Governor Sanwo-Olu, has been a stronghold for the APC since the party was formed in 2013. The state has consistently delivered electoral victories for the party at both state and federal levels. The revalidation of membership is seen as a step to consolidate this support and engage party members directly at the grassroots level.

Ward E3, located in Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island, is an important political area in Lagos. It has historically been active in party politics, with residents playing a key role in the outcomes of state and local elections. By personally visiting the ward, Sanwo-Olu reinforced the message of unity and participation among party supporters.

The governor also stressed the importance of youth involvement in politics. He urged young people to take advantage of the registration exercise as a way to become actively involved in party activities and decision-making processes.

“The strength of a political party lies in its members. When we have active members, especially the youth, the party grows stronger, and governance improves,” Sanwo-Olu said.

Residents of Ward E3 and APC members welcomed Sanwo-Olu’s visit, describing it as an encouragement for the community to participate actively in the party. Many attendees highlighted the importance of updating their membership details to avoid missing out on party benefits and participation in decision-making processes.

Mrs. Folashade Adeyemi, an APC member in the ward, said, “It is inspiring to see our governor lead by example. It motivates us to also revalidate our membership and encourage others to join.”

The visit also provided an opportunity for Sanwo-Olu to meet with ward leaders and local party executives, who briefed him on the progress of the registration exercise in their areas. Party officials confirmed that several members had already re-registered electronically and were actively helping others do the same.

The APC leadership has emphasized that membership revalidation is not just a procedural requirement but a crucial step in preparing for upcoming local and national elections. Lagos State, being one of the most politically significant states in Nigeria, plays a key role in shaping party strategies and electoral outcomes.

Governor Sanwo-Olu’s participation in the exercise is also a strategic move to encourage voter and party engagement in the state. It shows the governor’s commitment to internal party democracy, ensuring that all members have the opportunity to update their information and actively participate in party affairs.

As the electronic re-registration continues across Lagos and other states, the APC aims to ensure that every member, old or new, is accounted for. The party has made digital registration accessible through online platforms and dedicated centres in local government areas to encourage maximum participation.
