Popular Nigerian comedian and social media influencer, Samuel Perry, widely known as Broda Shaggy, has been hospitalised after he was allegedly shot during the filming of a comedy skit in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday afternoon under the Sango-Ota bridge, a busy location that connects Ogun State with parts of Lagos State.
Although the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, early information suggests that the entertainer was injured while recording content with members of his production crew.
Sources said he was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
A police source who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to comment on the matter said the comedian sustained a gunshot injury during the filming session.
According to the source, the skit maker was immediately taken to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos State.
“He was shooting a skit under the Sango-Ota bridge when he sustained a gunshot injury,” the source said.
“We do not yet know exactly how it happened, but members of his crew who were present at the location quickly rushed him to the hospital.”
Medical personnel at the hospital reportedly gave him first aid treatment shortly after he arrived.
However, due to the nature of the injury, he was later referred to another medical facility for further care.
Sources said the comedian was transferred to Duchess Hospital located in the Government Residential Area of Ikeja, Lagos State.
He is currently said to be recovering at the hospital.
When contacted on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that the police became aware of the case after the hospital reported the incident.
According to her, medical staff informed the police that a man with a gunshot injury had been brought to the facility.
“The hospital contacted the police to report that a gunshot victim had been brought to their facility,” she said.
“Detectives and a patrol team were immediately mobilised to the hospital.”
Adebisi said that when police officers arrived, they discovered that the victim was a well-known skit maker and social media personality popularly called Broda Shaggy.
She added that he was found lying on a stretcher with a gunshot injury to his thigh.
However, the police spokesperson noted that the alleged shooting did not occur within Lagos State.
“The location of the incident is in Sango-Ota and not within our jurisdiction, but the investigation is ongoing,” she said.
Because the incident reportedly happened in Ogun State, questions have also been raised about whether the case was reported to security authorities in that state.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the matter had not been officially reported to the command.
“The incident was alleged to have occurred in Ogun State, but it was not reported,” Babaseyi said.
This has created some uncertainty around the details of the shooting, as investigators are still trying to establish exactly what happened at the filming location.
