Preliminary findings by investigators suggest that the victim suffered a severe head injury. Police believe he was attacked with a wooden pestle, a household object commonly used for pounding food.

The police further disclosed that early investigation indicates that the crime may have been planned by people close to the victim, as the suspects are reportedly relatives of the deceased.

“The investigation shows that the victim was allegedly attacked with a wooden pestle, while the other suspects, who are relatives of the deceased, conspired in the commission of the crime and the attempted cover-up,” the statement added.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Life Channel Mortuary in Olambe for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and support further investigation.

Authorities said the suspects are currently in police custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for detailed investigation and possible prosecution.
