Abidoye’s tragic death was reported on Wednesday by the hotel’s Chief Security Officer (CSO), Oluwole, who promptly alerted the police.

Omolola Odutola, the Police Command’s spokesperson, provided details of the incident, describing how detectives responded swiftly to the scene.

“On receiving the report, a team of detectives visited the hotel. The deceased’s body was already placed in a car outside the premises, ready to be taken to the morgue by his family,” Odutola stated.

The grim discovery was first made by Abidoye’s brother, Jimoh Godday.

Jimoh explained that he became worried when repeated calls to his brother on Monday went unanswered.

“I decided to visit the hotel where he was staying,” Jimoh said.

He recalled knocking on the door of Abidoye’s room several times without any response.

When his concern deepened, he sought help from the hotel manager, who provided a spare key.

“Upon entering the room, we found my brother lying lifeless. It was a shocking and heartbreaking moment,” Jimoh recounted.

    Drugs and Strange Substances Found

Police investigators reported finding various drugs and traditional medicines in the hotel room.

The center of the bed was also soaked with an unidentified liquid substance, raising further questions about the circumstances of his death.

A close friend of the deceased, Ogunmonti Ogunwole, told police that he had accompanied Abidoye to buy nine different medications the day before his death.

“He complained of feeling unwell and insisted on purchasing the medications,” Ogunwole disclosed.

The police, however, have not yet confirmed whether the medications played a role in Abidoye’s death.

    Autopsy and Ongoing Investigation

The police revealed that Abidoye’s body has been taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) morgue in Sagamu for an autopsy.

According to Odutola, the exact cause of death remains unknown pending the autopsy report.

She assured the public that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a comprehensive investigation.

    Public Health Advisory

In her statement, Odutola urged Nigerians to avoid taking medications without proper medical guidance.

“This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of self-medication. People must seek professional medical advice before using drugs,” she advised.

    Questions Linger Over Abidoye’s Death

Abidoye, who had only recently returned to Nigeria from the United States on Saturday, was said to be in good spirits upon arrival.

His sudden death has left family, friends, and hotel staff searching for answers.

The presence of multiple drugs and the unexplained liquid substance have fueled speculation about the potential cause of death.

Some speculate that health complications from the medications might have contributed to his untimely demise.

Others are awaiting the autopsy to determine if foul play was involved.
