    Teacher in Hot Water for Assaulting Corps Member in Kwara

    A teacher at Government Day Secondary School, Kulende, Ilorin, has landed in trouble for allegedly assaulting a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member.

    The incident, which has sparked outrage, involved Mrs. Fatima Amuzat, a teacher at the school.

    The Kwara State Government has condemned the act and assured the public that disciplinary actions will be taken.

    According to reports, the corps member was beaten when she visited the school to collect her clearance letter.

    Eyewitnesses claim the teachers were upset because she did not greet them properly.

    In response to the incident, the Kwara State Commissioner for Education, Hajia Saadatu Modibbo-Kawu, described the assault as “unacceptable.”

    In a statement released on Friday, the commissioner emphasized that such behavior would not be tolerated.

    “The state is known for peace and harmony,” said Modibbo-Kawu. “We will not allow anything to disrupt the peace in our academic institutions.”

    Her statement was issued by the Ministry of Education’s Press Secretary, Mr. Peter Amogbonjaye.

    The ministry’s Anti-Loitering Team and the management of the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission visited the school to investigate the matter.

    Their unannounced visit aimed to gather facts and ensure calm was restored.

    Amogbonjaye assured the public that necessary steps are being taken to address the issue.

    “The concerned teacher has been summoned,” he revealed. “Disciplinary procedures will follow accordingly.”

    The commissioner also called on the NYSC and the public to remain calm.

    She urged everyone to be patient and law-abiding while the investigation is ongoing.
