Fubara Labels Wike’s Aide ‘Data Boy” and “Dog Seller”

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has launched a scathing attack on a media aide to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, calling him a “data boy” and “dog seller” in response to critical remarks about Fubara’s recent projects.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara did not hold back in his criticism of the FCT Minister’s media aide during a recent event. He accused the aide of lacking proper understanding of governance, despite reportedly having close ties with the former governor, Nyesom Wike.

The heated exchange occurred at the inauguration of the remodelled Government Girls’ Secondary School in Ahoada, where Fubara responded to the aide’s comments about recent government projects in Etche-Omuma. Fubara expressed frustration over the media aide’s remarks, calling his criticism “misguided” and accusing him of failing to appreciate the developmental efforts being made under the current administration.

“If they love you, the appointment they gave to one boy the other day, if you were good, why didn’t they give you that appointment?” Fubara said, addressing the aide. “Go and check yourself, something is wrong with you.” His remarks were pointed and clearly meant to challenge the aide’s qualifications and motivations.

This latest exchange is part of a long-running political feud between Governor Fubara and former Governor Nyesom Wike. Fubara, in his comments, questioned the aide’s relevance and experience, claiming that despite his proximity to Wike for eight years, the aide had failed to understand the true nature of governance.

Fubara’s words were sharp and direct as he confronted those who have used the online space to criticize his administration. “We will not celebrate things that will not have meaning,” Fubara declared. He advised individuals who resort to online insults to reflect on their life choices and make more meaningful contributions to society instead of engaging in divisive rhetoric.

“Governance is about delivering projects that meet the strategic needs of the people, not about creating fanfare for the sake of it,” Fubara emphasized. His administration, he explained, was focused on addressing critical developmental needs, with an emphasis on impact over spectacle.

The Governor’s frustration was evident as he continued his remarks, noting that his administration had already delivered substantial projects that were beneficial to the people of Rivers State. This, he explained, was far more important than engaging in online battles or defending baseless criticism.

“Projects’ delivery is not for mere fanfare,” he reiterated, making it clear that his focus remains on delivering real, tangible improvements for the people of Rivers State. His statement served as a strong rebuttal to the media aide’s criticisms, which he believed were misguided and rooted in personal agendas rather than the greater good of the state.

Governor Fubara also used the occasion to address the struggles faced by his government, especially in light of the ongoing political tensions. He expressed gratitude to the Ekpeye people for their continued support, despite the challenges posed by what he described as harassment and intimidation. He pointed out the unjust detention of traditional rulers and his Chief of Staff, Dr. Edison Ehie, as examples of the obstacles they had encountered in their efforts to govern.
