The Lagos State Government has indefinitely suspended the operations of its Red Line Mass Transit Train Service (LRMT) after a mechanical fault disrupted services last week.

According to passengers, the trouble began last Monday when commuters on the Red Line train from Iju encountered unexpected delays due to a mechanical failure on the morning belt.
A passenger, who requested to remain anonymous, revealed that the issue began shortly after the train left Iju. “We were told there was a mechanical fault,” the passenger said. “By the time we reached Mushin, the train couldn’t move anymore, and we were all told to disembark.”
The incident left many passengers frustrated and questioning the reliability of the Red Line, which had been launched as a flagship project to ease transportation challenges in Lagos.
The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, confirmed that the train service had been temporarily suspended for safety reasons.
