The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, has dismissed claims in the media suggesting that he owes the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) outstanding payments on a land title.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Musa Abdullahi Kirishi, the Speaker clarified that he has fully settled all outstanding payments for his allocated land in October 2024.
The statement reads, “The attention of the Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D, GCON, has been drawn to reports in both print and electronic media that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) revoked land titles in the FCT, including one belonging to the Speaker, due to non-settlement of outstanding payments.”
It continues, “For the record, His Excellency, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen has only one land allocated to him in the FCT, and has since settled his outstanding payment in October 2024, following the FCTA’s publications to that effect.”
The Speaker refuted the inclusion of his name in the list of individuals with unsettled payments leading to land title revocations, calling it an error.
He also urged the FCTA to be more careful when handling such matters and advised the media to verify their information before publishing.
