    WAFU U-17 Girls Cup: Ghana Beat Nigeria 5-4 On Penalties in

    Despite a brave comeback, Nigeria’s Flamingos lost 5-4 on penalties to Ghana in the final of the inaugural WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup on Sunday.

    The match saw Ghana take an early 2-0 lead with goals from Gertrude Amoafa in the 13th minute and Priscilla Mensah in the 18th minute. However, the Flamingos rallied, with Precious Oscar pulling one back in the 34th minute to make it 2-1 at halftime.

    The Nigerians thought they had equalized in the 66th minute, but the goal was ruled out. Three minutes later, they hit the crossbar, but their persistence paid off in the 80th minute when Harmony Chidi scored to level the game 2-2.

    With no further goals in regulation time, the match went to penalties, where Ghana triumphed 5-4 to clinch the title.

    Benin Republic clinched the bronze medal by narrowly defeating Côte d’Ivoire in a tense penalty shootout.
