Negotiations on the new national minimum wage reached a crucial stage Friday night as the Federal Government proposed a minimum wage of N62,000 to organised labour.

Sources privy to the deliberations at the meeting of the Tripartite Committee in Abuja said organlised labour countered with a demand for a N250,000 minimum wage.

The committee consists of representatives from the government, organised private sector and organised labour.

Following the deadlock in negotiations, the Tripartite Committee adjourned the meeting without achieving a consensus.
