Reno Omokri Challenges Natasha Akpoti to Take Lie Detector Test Over Harassment Claims

    Share

Former presidential media aide Reno Omokri has called on Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to undergo a lie detector test following her sexual harassment accusations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Omokri, in a video posted on social media, claims that Akpoti has previously made false accusations against him in 2021, accusing her of lying about an alleged incident in 2014. He now says her history of dishonesty raises serious doubts about the veracity of her recent allegations against Akpabio.

In the video, Omokri revealed that Natasha Akpoti had once accused him of sexual harassment after a dispute in 2021. He claims that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations were false, as he was out of the country at the time of the alleged incident. According to Omokri, the alleged harassment took place during a state banquet held by former President Goodluck Jonathan for the visiting Kenyan President, Uhuru Kenyatta, on May 6, 2014. However, Omokri insists he was out of Nigeria at that time, and has shared evidence, including his passport stamps and flight tickets, to prove he was abroad during the event.

Omokri explained that after he shared this evidence on social media, Akpoti deleted her accusations, including a video she had made in which she insulted him and his family. Omokri said that after the incident, he was contacted by a prominent Christian clergyman, who, along with Akpoti’s husband, Emmanuel Oritshejolomi Uduaghan, appealed to him to settle the matter out of court. He agreed, and in return, received damages for the false accusations.

According to Omokri, Natasha Akpoti’s behaviour in 2021 bears striking similarities to the recent claims she made against Senate President Akpabio. Omokri highlighted that while he cannot speak to the truth of Akpoti’s accusations against Akpabio, her history of making false allegations should raise concerns. Omokri’s insistence on a lie detector test stems from his belief that the “best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour.” He argued that given Akpoti’s previous actions, Nigerians should question her current claims.

“Until she takes a lie detector test, the presumption is that she is acting on her past behaviour,” Omokri said in the video. His call for a lie detector test comes as a way to ensure that Akpoti’s allegations are taken seriously, but also to prevent further damage to Akpabio’s reputation based on potentially false claims.

Sexual harassment is a serious issue, and in recent years, more people have come forward with their stories. However, accusations without solid evidence can also harm innocent individuals. Omokri’s demand for a lie detector test raises important questions about the way in which allegations are made, particularly when they involve high-profile figures.
