A total of 86 Nigerian Army captains are currently taking part in the 2025 Written Promotion Examination in Benin. The week-long examination, which started on Sunday, May 12, is being held at the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport (NASST) and will run until May 16.
Maj. Gen. Kevin Aligbe, Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) and President of the examination, addressed the candidates during the opening session. He congratulated them for reaching this key point in their careers and urged them to approach the exam with professionalism and discipline. He emphasized that this examination is crucial for advancing to the rank of Major in the Nigerian Army, as part of the structured promotion process.
“This is a major stepping stone in your career,” said Maj. Gen. Aligbe. “We expect nothing less than a 100 percent success rate from those who have prepared well.” He reminded the officers that only three attempts are allowed by Army policy and warned that any form of cheating or malpractice would lead to disqualification and possible disciplinary action.
The examination also comes with rewards for top performers, with cash prizes and commendation letters to be given to the candidates who finish first, second, and third. Maj. Gen. Aligbe assured that the marking process would be fair and transparent.
Maj. Gen. Adebayo Adegbite, Commandant of NASST, welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of the exam in shaping their future careers. He reminded the officers to remain security-conscious during their time in Benin and advised them to avoid unnecessary movements.
With the exam now underway, all eyes are on the captains, who are eager to advance in their military careers and meet the high expectations of their superiors.
