President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has thrown his full support behind the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, urging him to stay focused on his work and ignore critics.

The President made this statement on Monday during the official commissioning of the newly refurbished Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja, which reportedly cost ₦39 billion.

Speaking at the event, Tinubu described Wike as a “transformational leader” and praised his efforts to improve infrastructure in the FCT.

“Don’t pay attention to busybodies and bystanders, and whatever they say,” Tinubu said. “Continue with your good work. You have the foresight, the vision, and the determination to succeed.”

The President also used the occasion to wish Wike and other dignitaries a happy Salah celebration, saying, “Today, I say once again to honour you—Barka da Salah—and you must obey what the landlord (Wike) says. You want to use this place, you’re gonna pay for it.”

Tinubu said the upgraded ICC reflects his administration’s goal of presenting Nigeria as a country of “quality, character, and great spirit.”

The conference centre is part of a broader effort by the FCT Administration to revamp public infrastructure in Abuja. Under Wike’s leadership, several projects have been fast-tracked, earning him both praise and criticism from different quarters.

But with Tinubu’s public endorsement, it appears the President is standing firmly behind his minister’s approach.
