A man named Torngusha Usuwe has been arrested by the police in Gungul Village, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, for allegedly killing his mother during a domestic argument.
The tragic incident reportedly happened on Tuesday around 2:30 p.m. Usuwe allegedly struck his mother with a stick on her left jaw, causing a serious fracture.
Eyewitnesses said the woman began bleeding from her mouth and ear. She was quickly taken to Zege Nyion Clinic in Gungul for treatment but was confirmed dead by 8:00 p.m. the same day.
After a relative of the deceased reported the matter, police detectives were sent to the scene. They took photographs and moved the body to Gungul Memory Integrated Morgue for autopsy.
The suspect is currently in police custody while investigations continue.
Police authorities in the area have promised to get to the root of the matter and ensure justice is served.
