U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a dramatic warning, urging people to “immediately evacuate Tehran,” Iran’s capital city, amid growing fears of a major crisis over Iran’s nuclear program.
Trump made the call in a statement posted online, following reports of heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, as well as ongoing discussions at the G7 summit held in Canada.
In his message, Trump accused Iran of ignoring a nuclear deal he claimed to have proposed during his presidency. He said Iran’s actions could lead to serious loss of life.
“Iran should have signed the deal I told them to sign. What a shame and waste of human life. Simply stated, Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon,” Trump declared.
“Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”
The former U.S. leader’s comments have caused strong reactions globally, with many fearing they could fuel further instability in the Middle East.
Trump, who had been attending the G7 summit in Canada, left earlier than scheduled to focus on what he described as an “urgent security threat” in the Middle East. His early departure drew international attention, as world leaders were meeting to discuss global security, trade, and de-escalation strategies for ongoing conflicts.
Trump’s statement sparked mixed reactions. Some Western allies supported his call for tougher action on Iran, while others urged restraint and dialogue.
In Australia, the government was reportedly working to assist its citizens in Tehran, while European leaders continued to push for diplomatic solutions. Meanwhile, Iran has yet to issue an official response to Trump’s latest remarks.
International observers say Trump’s words may further complicate ongoing diplomatic efforts to prevent escalation in the region.
Tensions between the U.S. and Iran over nuclear development are not new. In 2015, a historic agreement known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was signed by Iran and six world powers, including the U.S. However, Trump withdrew the U.S. from the deal in 2018, citing Iran’s non-compliance.
Since then, Iran has resumed parts of its nuclear programme, claiming it is for peaceful purposes. The U.S., Israel, and some of their allies, however, believe Iran is secretly working to build a nuclear weapon.
Trump’s latest remarks come at a time of renewed fears of military conflict between Iran and Israel, following recent reports of drone strikes and airspace violations.
Despite Trump’s hardline approach, several global leaders and humanitarian groups have urged caution, warning that panic and evacuation calls could increase fear among civilians and trigger unnecessary conflict.
As tensions grow, all eyes remain on the Middle East, with hopes that diplomacy will prevail over war.
