Imo Police Boss Arrests Seven Officers for Extortion

    Share

The Imo State Police Command has taken a firm step to restore discipline and public trust by arresting seven police officers for extortion and other unprofessional conduct.

The arrests were made during the operational inspection tour led by Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma. The tour covered key police checkpoints along the Owerri–Onitsha, Owerri–Port Harcourt, and Owerri–Umuahia highways.

This action followed several complaints from members of the public accusing some police officers of demanding bribes, harassment, and behaving unprofessionally while on duty.

During his visit to the checkpoints, CP Danjuma reminded officers about the core values of modern policing — discipline, integrity, and respect for human rights — stressing that such behavior would not be tolerated.

The command said it would continue to monitor police activities closely to ensure that officers serve the public with professionalism and uphold the law without abuse.
