Air Peace Airline has announced it will begin direct flights from Abuja to London Heathrow Airport starting October 26, following a grant approval from British aviation authorities.

Dr. Allen Onyema, Chairman of Air Peace, made the announcement at a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday, saying the grant reflects strong international confidence in the airline.

The new Abuja-London flights will operate four times a week. The airline also runs Lagos to London Gatwick flights three times daily.

Onyema added that before the end of the year, Air Peace plans to add flights to Congo, Gabon, and Brazzaville. In addition, direct flights to the Caribbean, including Antigua from September and later Barbados, are set to launch.

To meet the growing schedule, the airline is increasing its fleet capacity with more Boeing 777 wide-body aircraft and new planes through dry lease financing. Currently, Air Peace owns 36 aircraft outright and has four on wet lease.
