Lecturers from the University of Port Harcourt (UniPort) are making Nigeria proud in China by teaching the Chinese language as part of an academic exchange program.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Owunari Georgewill, shared the news on his official social media page, celebrating the international success of the university’s staff.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, a staff member named Chinemerem is currently teaching the Chinese language fluently in China, showcasing the strength of UniPort’s academic capacity and international collaboration.
“Our staff took centre stage to teach flawless Chinese language,” Professor Georgewill wrote. “Staff of the University led by Professor Jalu Wosu are currently in China on an exchange program.”
He also thanked the Chinese Consul General in Lagos for supporting the partnership between the two institutions.
This development highlights UniPort’s growing reputation in international education and reflects a broader trend of Nigerian universities seeking stronger global engagement, especially with countries like China that are investing in educational cooperation across Africa.
