Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has opened up about his tough upbringing in Lagos, revealing that he used to clean gutters and fetch water for as little as N30 to survive.
In a recent interview with broadcaster Daddy Freeze, Osimhen recounted his early days in the Olusosun area of Lagos, where he did odd jobs for neighbours in a “face-me-I-face-you” compound to earn money.
“There was a building in front of my house. I used to fetch water for people upstairs for N80, and sometimes I cleaned the gutters, even when green things were coming out,” he said.
The Napoli forward, now one of Africa’s highest-paid footballers, said those struggles shaped him and taught him the value of hard work. His story has since gained wide attention online, with many praising his humility and determination.
Osimhen rose from those difficult beginnings to become a key player for the Super Eagles and a star in Europe, winning the Serie A Golden Boot and drawing interest from top clubs worldwide.
