French giants Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil’s Palmeiras have qualified for the Round of 16 at the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup 2025 after finishing top of their respective groups. They will be joined by Botafogo and Inter Miami CF, who also secured spots in the knockout stage.

In Group B, PSG defeated Seattle Sounders 2-0 at Lumen Field in the U.S. to finish top of their group. Goals from Vitinha (via deflection) and Achraf Hakimi sealed the win. The Parisians will now face Inter Miami, the Group A runners-up, in the next round on Sunday, 29 June in Atlanta.

Also from Group B, Botafogo lost 1-0 to Atlético de Madrid at the Rose Bowl, Los Angeles, but advanced to the Round of 16 on goal difference. Antoine Griezmann’s late goal (87th minute) gave Atlético the win, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Spanish side in the competition. Botafogo will now play against Palmeiras on Saturday, 28 June in Philadelphia.

In Group A, Palmeiras came from behind to draw 2-2 with Inter Miami at Hard Rock Stadium. Goals from Paulinho (80’) and Mauricio (87’) cancelled out Luis Suarez’s goal and assist earlier in the match. The result helped Palmeiras finish top of the group on goal difference.

Meanwhile, FC Porto and Al Ahly played out a dramatic 4-4 draw at MetLife Stadium, but both teams were eliminated. Porto’s substitute Pepe scored an 89th-minute equaliser after Al Ahly’s Wessam Abou Ali had netted a hat-trick.
