American rapper Nicki Minaj has publicly accused fellow music star and billionaire businessman Jay-Z of owing her up to \$200 million in unpaid earnings.
The ‘Anaconda’ hitmaker took to her X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday to make the claim, warning that the alleged debt is “collecting interest.”
She wrote:
“We’ve calculated about 100–200MM so far. #JayZ call me to settle this karmic debt. It’s only collecting more interest. You still in my Top 5 tho. Let’s get it nigga.”
Minaj’s accusations reportedly stem from what she believes were unfair dealings during the sale of music streaming platform Tidal in 2021. She has previously hinted that she was shortchanged in the equity payout from the deal.
Jay-Z, who co-founded Tidal and led its high-profile sale to Square Inc. (now Block Inc.), is yet to publicly respond to Minaj’s latest allegations.
Both stars have long histories in the music business and were once seen as allies in the hip-hop industry. This fresh controversy, however, may test their relationship if the issue is not resolved privately.
