Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) arrested a man for defecating in public on Oba Akran Bridge in Ikeja on Wednesday, July 9.
The offender, identified as Ope Adeniran, was caught in the act by sanitation officers enforcing the state’s environmental laws.
Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the arrest and said Adeniran will be prosecuted according to Lagos State’s environmental regulations.
Wahab expressed concern about the repeated disregard for sanitation laws by some residents, which threatens the government’s efforts to keep Lagos clean and healthy.
He warned that offenders will face strict consequences and hinted that the state might increase enforcement to stop such violations.
The Lagos government has been intensifying efforts to promote environmental hygiene, urging citizens to comply with laws to prevent pollution and protect public health.
