Former Manchester United midfielder, Darren Fletcher, has been appointed as the new lead coach of the club’s Under-18 team.
The Premier League giants announced the appointment on their official website on Monday, confirming that Fletcher has already taken up the role and is handling pre-season training with the team.
Fletcher, 41, spent two decades at Manchester United as a player, making over 340 appearances. He won multiple trophies including five Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, the FA Cup, two League Cups, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Speaking about his new job, Fletcher said: “I’m really excited to take on this new role and increase my responsibility to directly develop our young players. I am looking forward to working with such a talented age group.”
Fletcher rejoined the club in 2021 in a backroom role and has been involved in youth development and technical support ever since. His new position reflects the club’s continued focus on grooming young talents from within its academy.
