A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has strongly criticised popular disc jockey and activist, DJ Switch, over her reaction to the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Buhari, who passed away recently, led Nigeria from 2015 to 2023 and was known for his firm stance on anti-corruption and security, although many Nigerians remained divided on his performance.
In a post shared on her Instagram page, DJ Switch, whose real name is Obianuju Catherine Udeh, reacted to the news with the words:
“Wow! The sweet reality of inevitability. RIP MF. One down.”
She also posted a video where she claimed Buhari “achieved nothing” during his time in office.
Igbokwe did not take her comments lightly. Taking to Facebook, he described her as “nauseating” and said she had caused “damage to Nigeria with her utterances.” He further wrote:
“So the ugly and nauseating lady is talking? She has not realized the damage she did to Nigeria with her utterances. This lady needs help. She must have gone kolos.”
DJ Switch came into the spotlight during the #EndSARS protests in 2020, when she streamed live footage from the Lekki Toll Gate as security forces reportedly opened fire on peaceful protesters. Her coverage drew international attention and made her a vocal figure in Nigeria’s youth movement against police brutality.
The exchange between Igbokwe and DJ Switch highlights the deep divisions in public opinion about Buhari’s legacy and the ongoing tensions between government loyalists and activists.
