Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has drawn heavy criticism online following his reaction to the reported death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a now-viral video, Portable made strong claims about Buhari’s alleged role in the 2020 Lekki Toll Gate shooting during the #EndSARS protests. He stated that Buhari, not current President Bola Tinubu, gave the order for security forces to open fire on peaceful protesters.

“The man that said they should shoot our people at The Lekki Still Gate is dead. Let us do good. May he die again in Heaven. He was the one that ordered the shooting, not Tinubu. He died in London,” Portable said in the video.

His remarks, especially the controversial prayer for Buhari to “die again in Heaven,” have caused a wave of backlash across social media. Many Nigerians condemned the singer for being disrespectful and insensitive.
